Civil Jury Bond

For every civil jury trial, you are required to put up a cash Jury Bond. The jury filing fee is $150.00 to be paid at the time of requesting a jury. A bill is sent out to the attorney requesting the jury about 3 months in advance and is due here in the office 60 days before the trial date. The total bill for a jury runs about $8,000 - $9,000 depending on the number of days the jury trial is scheduled for.

If you receive a jury subpoena to come to court, please call us the night before to verify if you still have to come. Call at (985) 369-6653 after 4:30pm, and you will hear a recording. If you come to court for jury duty, you are paid $25 per day plus mileage. If you are looking to be excused from jury duty, you have to phone the judge that is listed on the subpoena. Once you reach the age of 70, you may claim a personal exemption to be excused. Call the judge's office.
